On Memorial day, 2006, the Westwood High Alumni Association had a float in the annual Memorial day parade to honor those veterans who has served in the arm forces and to further honor the memory of those alumni who have died in service to their country. Starting at the very early hour of 7:30 a.m. we were down at the town hall decorating our float. Mike Lally graciously donated the use of his flatbed truck to build our float and John Pritchard, Class of '55; Bill Holbrook and Wendy Wilhelm class of '65; Diane Badger and Joyce Frasca Jacobs, Class of '71; Michelle Chicione Tapsell, Class of '74; Vickie Wilhelm DeVoy, Class of '79 all helped getting the float ready. Some of the alumni vets rode on the float while other alumni vets who had duties elsewhere in the parade wore nametags with their class affiliation. Bill Holbrook gave a nod to the alumni association during his speech at the cemetary.Response to our float was extremely positive, from both spectators and town officials and we hope to make this an annual event.
